1974 FORD BRONCO CUSTOM SUV – NO RESERVE

2022 HOUSTON AUCTION – 1974 FORD BRONCO CUSTOM SUV – NO RESERVE

260146_Rear_3-4A true American icon, the first-gen Ford Bronco made its debut in 1966. Its original compact look sets it apart from ensuing generations and continues to command more interest than others. It has evolved over six generations and recently has seen a boom in popularity as many collectors seek out these first gens that became the foundation for the Bronco’s future success.

The Bronco was initially intended to compete with the Jeep CJ5 and the International Harvester Scout. It was also Ford’s first off-road 4×4. As such, it came in three cab types: a wagon; a pickup, discontinued after 1972; and an open model without doors.

The frame, chassis and body of the Bronco were unique, despite being equipped with the same front and rear axles as the company’s F-Series trucks. Engine choices were limited during the model’s first manufacturing year, but a 302ci appeared in 1969.

Midway through its 12-year production run, Ford introduced a 3-speed automatic transmission and optional power steering, while the base 170ci 2.8-liter inline-6 engine the Bronco was offered with when it debuted grew to 3.3-liters.

260146_Engine1974 saw the largest production run of the first gen, in part due to an improved shifter mechanism.

The custom 1974 Ford Bronco offered with No Reserve during the 2022 Houston Auction, October 20-22 at NRG Center, is an example of this popular model year.

Finished in black and orange, the Bronco is ready to tackle any trail it meets. Under the hood, it is powered by a 302ci engine backed by an automatic C4 transmission with 3.50 gears.

The engine is topped with a FiTech electronic fuel injection self-learning system for ease of use, while an aluminum radiator and electric fan help keep it cool. It also has a Painless Wiring harness and power steering, along with front disc and rear drum power brakes.

To help the driver escape any sticky situations, the Bronco is outfitted with a 12,000-pound winch. The SUV features LED headlights, taillights and bumpers custom-fit with LED lights controlled by a switch.

260146_InteriorInside, Dressler’s Upholstery hand-stitched the Bucking Bronco into the black leather, complimented by matching orange trim and a black top. The Bronco script seen throughout has been custom cut into the door panels and dash.

The driver can jam out with speakers placed in the dashboard, right front kick panel and two 6×9-inch speakers under the rear seat near the hidden antenna.

This custom Bronco is sure to turn heads at the 2022 Houston Auction, October 20-22 at NRG Center. Register to bid today and make it yours, along with hundreds of other exceptional vehicles selling with No Reserve.
