2024 SCOTTSDALE FALL AUCTION – 1965 CHEVROLET C10 CUSTOM PICKUP “C10 SLAYER” – NO RESERVE
Imagine rolling down the street in a real-life Hot Wheels truck – one that’s as wild and as over-the-top as the one from your childhood dreams. That’s exactly what you get with a 1965 Chevrolet C10 6×6 known as the “C10 Slayer.” Crafted by the father-son duo Doug and Brad DeBerti of DeBerti Design, this truck isn’t just another custom build; it’s a labor of love, raw power and engineering brilliance. In the realm of custom trucks, the C10 Slayer is a showstopper, blending the thrill of Hot Wheels fantasy with jaw-dropping real-world performance.
Under the hood of the C10 Slayer lies a powertrain that brings the fantasy world of Hot Wheels to real life – it features a built 900 horsepower LSX B15 6.2-liter engine from Chevrolet, topped with a colossal 5-liter Whipple supercharger and crowned with an 8-stack fuel injection system. The best part? It makes 900 horsepower on regular ol’ pump gas. This incredible setup is paired with a racing 4L80E 4-speed automatic transmission encased in a Reid Racing shell. To handle this power, the rear end is fortified with custom racing housings engineered to endure over 1,500 horsepower. And, for those jaw-dropping moments, it features a unique pass-through driveshaft that powers both tandem axles, making for some truly epic tire-slaying 4-wheel burnouts.
To help manage all the power and keep the body of the truck from twisting, the truck utilizes a hand-built, TIG-welded, full tube chassis. A full roll cage has been incorporated from front to back and supports high-performance racing cooling systems and suspension parts. One of the coolest things about the C10 Slayer is the hydraulic coilover shock suspension system, which allows the truck to lift from the ground to a 5-inch ride height with the push of a button, while maintaining its ride quality at any height.
Draped in Matte Black, the C10 Slayer’s exterior is aggressive and purposeful, further solidifying its status as a life-size Hot Wheel. Featuring widebody fenders, a front spoiler and a cab wing crafted from CNC-machined molds, the custom three-piece hood design ensures the widebody fenders stay stationary. At the rear, a diffuser and widened tailgate create a factory-inspired look, while a carbon-fiber wing overlooks the intricate tandem axles and suspension setup.
The truck rides on six custom 20-inch billet-machined wheels wrapped in Michelin racing tires, perfectly fitting the widebody design. Inside, the C10 Slayer’s interior is seamlessly integrated with the race-ready roll cage and offers modern amenities like digital electronics and carbon-fiber panels. Every detail is handcrafted, from the billet-machined brake lever to the pedals connected to 6-disc racing brakes.
The C10’s wiring harness is CAD-drawn and built with aircraft-grade MilSpecWiring, ensuring full functionality of headlights, taillights and turn signals.
This incredible truck was designed to look like a real-life Hot Wheels model and has captured the attention of car enthusiasts worldwide. It’s graced the cover of Street Trucks magazine, appeared multiple times at the SEMA Show and gone viral on social media. It also made appearances with Hoonigan and is set to be featured in Microsoft’s “Forza Horizon 5″ video game in late 2024. Additionally, it is in the running to become a Mattel Hot Wheels truck in 2025.
The C10 Slayer is a true legend in the world of custom trucks, blending unmatched power, innovative design and cutting-edge technology into one unforgettable machine. The C10 Slayer will cross the Barrett-Jackson block with No Reserve at the 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction, presented by Gila River Resorts & Casinos, Oct. 10-13 at WestWorld.
