If you’re new to the collector car hobby and want to find out more about it – or are a seasoned collector who wants to pick up some great tips – plan on attending a “Behind the Hobby” Collector Car Symposium at the inaugural Northeast Auction in Connecticut.

Two symposiums free of charge to event ticket holders on Saturday, June 25, will be held at the Cabaret Theatre within Mohegan Sun. Barrett-Jackson’s team of industry experts will be available to discuss a wide range of topics relating to car collecting.

From 9 to 10 a.m., “Tips for Success in Buying and Selling Collector Cars” will touch on the top five things to look for when purchasing a collector car, what to look at when viewing or inspecting a car, restoration tips, documentation, auction prep and other relevant topics. Presented by Barrett-Jackson Endorsed Insurance and Woodside Credit, this symposium’s panel will include Barrett-Jackson team members David Wise and Roy Sinor (Automotive Experts), Jeff Catlin (Showroom Service Manager) and Steve Chryssos (Specialist Programs Manager), as well as AIG Global Head of Private Collections Ron Fiamma, and Woodside Credit President and COO Mitch Shatzen.

The second hour-long symposium begins at 10 a.m. and will take “An Advanced Look into Collector Cars.” Presented by the Barrett-Jackson Automotive Experts, attendees will discover what makes a vehicle a collector car, find out about engine sizes and output during the muscle car era, what factors increase or limit a collector car’s value, the warning signs of collector car fraud, the difference between seemingly identical cars and more. Lending their knowledge to the subject will be some key members of the Barrett-Jackson team of Automotive Experts, including Roy Sinor, Jim Mattison, Jerry MacNeish, Kevin Marti, David Wise and Steve Magnante.

Moderated by automotive radio and television personality Alan Taylor, the symposiums will be aired live via his syndicated show “The Drive with Alan Taylor.” Listen to the live feed HERE or catch the show on one of nearly 100 radio station affiliates across the country – check your favorite station’s program listings.

With the shared knowledge provided by the exceptional Barrett-Jackson team of experts, you’re sure to gain some valuable insight and appreciation about the many aspects of the collector car hobby.
