LOT #412.1 – 2012 CHEVROLET CORVETTE – SOLD! $330,000
The arena cheered on Day 5 of the 2025 Scottsdale Auction as a 2012 Chevrolet Corvette (Lot #412.1) from the David M. Ressler Collection crossed the block for $330,000, setting a new world auction record. Throughout the day, automotive enthusiasts filled the arena to watch over 350 No Reserve collector cars cross the world-famous auction block. Enthusiastic bidding kept everyone’s attention as the day progressed.
Exciting moments in the auction arena included a 1972 Dodge Demon 340 (Lot #462) going to a new home for $126,500. That sale was followed by a custom 1976 International Scout II (Lot #487) crossing the block for $117,700 and a 1965 Chevrolet Corvette 327/365 (Lot #495) selling for $115,500.
Fords proved to be popular among bidders, with three spectacular examples of the Blue Oval brand making it into the day’s top sales. A 1934 Ford Cabriolet Custom Convertible (Lot #441.1) sold for $110,000, while a 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 429 SCJ (Lot #461) sped off to a new home for $106,700. Rounding out the Fords ‒ and the top sales of the day ‒ was a 1968 Ford Mustang “Bullitt” Re-Creation (Lot #464) that crossed the block for $101,200.
The Dr. Stewart A. Berkowitz Collection wowed the arena once again with the $115,500 sale of the 1966 Glasstron V174 “Batboat” Re-Creation (Lot #471.1). Also crossing the block Wednesday were vehicles from the Bill Barker Collection, the Jim Gilstrap Collection, the Mile High Collection, the Lloyd Ypma Collection, the Garage X Collection, the Thomas Rides Collection, the GM Heritage Collection, the Bryan Frank Collection and the South Florida Corvette Collection.
A special moment onstage came when the auctioneer announced the Reliable Carriers Pick of the Day, Lot #491, a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air custom convertible. Bob Sellers, vice president and COO of Reliable Carriers, was also welcomed to the block to celebrate the milestone of his 30th Scottsdale Auction. Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson, gratefully acknowledged Sellers’ support of Barrett-Jackson over the last three decades and the tens of thousands of auction vehicles he’s transported.
In the South Showcase presented by Piper Aircraft, guests were treated to two collector car symposiums. The first topic focused on Hot Wheels and featured Bryan Benedict, the Lead Hot Wheels Principal Designer, along with a special appearance by Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. The second symposium discussed collectible cars of the next generation with experts Brian Jannusch, Sam Stockham and Tyson Hugie. The Collector Car Symposiums will continue on Thursday and Friday mornings.
Since Monday, a new Top 5 finalist has been revealed each day as the excitement builds for the crowning of the 2025 Barrett-Jackson Cup’s Ultimate Best in Show on the auction block this Saturday, live on the HISTORY Channel. On Wednesday, Ed Ganzinotti’s 1968 Dodge Charger built by Classic Car Studio, was added to the impressive lineup competing for the title and $20,000 cash purse. Be sure to vote for your favorite cup car today – voting for the People’s Choice award will close at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24.
In addition to all the action on the block, the site was buzzing with excitement throughout the day as guests were able to experience Toyota’s TRD Pro Dirt Rides, as well as Dodge and GR Supra Thrill Rides. New for Wednesday was the introduction of Ford Hot Laps, providing attendees with the chance to experience a heart-pounding ride with a professional driver at the helm of a new Mustang. Hot Laps will continue through Saturday. Attendees also had the unique opportunity to take the wheel of a new Dodge Hornet as part of the event’s Driving Experiences.
The morning’s Automobilia Auction saw a variety of items attract bidders’ interest, such as a 1940s-50s Mopar Bennett Model #646 Gas Pump (Lot #9195) and a Vintage Phillips 66 Light-Up Sign (Lot #9198.4). More automobilia items will be offered with No Reserve throughout the rest of the week, each day before the collector cars start crossing the block.
