This 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible Inspiration Series VIN 100001 brought the house down when it sold for $2 million to benefit the Bob Woodruff Foundation and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

What a start to the weekend! Friday’s Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction saw some exciting moments – but none could beat the sale of the very first 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible Inspiration Series. Officially unveiled in late 2019 at the Los Angeles International Auto Show and again at the Barrett-Jackson Opening Night Gala last Sunday, the Lexus LC 500 Convertible – wearing VIN 100001 – came to the auction block Friday afternoon with Hall of Fame driver Scott Pruett behind the wheel and a goal of raising much-needed funds for both the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the Bob Woodruff Foundation. Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer was greeted with a standing ovation as he came on the block to encourage bidding for these special causes, and the crowd roared as the action reached a fever pitch, with the hammer finally coming down on an incredible winning bid of $2 million.

With John Force on the block, this 2020 Chevrolet COPO Camaro John Force Edition sold for $600,000 to benefit DonorsChoose.org.

The stunning Lexus was one of four “cars with a cause” that cruised across the Barrett-Jackson block on Friday.

If racing legend John Force has his name attached to anything, you know it has to be good. Friday’s bidders knew it, too, which is why their hands started raising the minute the 2020 Chevrolet COPO Camaro John Force Edition hit the auction block. A stoked Force was onstage to kick off the bidding on the one-of-a-kind supercharged beast, considered an unprecedented build in the elite COPO Camaro program. When the gavel fell, the sale brought in $600,000, all of which will benefit DonorsChoose.org, helping bring teachers’ and students’ dreams to life in classrooms across America.

Another charity car was an amazing piece of NASCAR history: The #24 Monte Carlo driven by NASCAR Hall of Famer Jeff Gordon in the first road course victory in his Winston Cup career. Because Barrett-Jackson waives all fees for charity vehicle sales, the Arizona Animal Welfare League will benefit from the entire $250,000 raised by this important sale.

Jeff Allen's custom 1963 Volvo Amazon brought in $150,000 for the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Jeff Allen from CNBC’s “The Car Chasers” brought an incredible custom 1963 Volvo Amazon to the auction to be sold to help the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund. Built and modified by Allen, the car features Grand Sport Corvette DNA, powered by a Lingenfelter Performance 7.0-liter LS7 engine and many other incredible upgrades. The car caught one lucky bidder’s eye, who will be driving home in his new collectible for a winning bid of $150,000.

Another 23 new auction records were set at Friday’s auction, including the sale of Simon Cowell’s custom 1977 Ford Bronco, which went off to its new garage for $86,900, and New York Yankees great and MLB Hall of Famer **Mariano Rivera’s personal 2020 Toyota Supra Launch Edition, which brought in $100,000. Another memorable sale was John Elway’s 1992 Dodge Viper, with the NFL Hall of Famer onstage when the car sold for $88,000.

Friday's top seller was this 1967 Ford Mustang Eleanor Tribute Edition, which sold for $330,000.

The top-selling vehicles of the day also got the crowd fired up on Friday. Two Eleanor Tribute Editions really turned bidders’ heads, ending up as the top two sellers of the day: Lot #1087 bringing in $330,000 and Lot #1132.1 selling for $236,500. Also ringing the bell at $236,500 was a 2010 Dodge Viper Voodoo Edition #1. A number of Corvettes also landed in the Top 10, including a 1963 Split-Window ($225,500) and two 1967 convertibles – Lot #1027.1 at $220,000 and Lot #1047.1 at $178,200.

The morning’s action started out with a bang during the Automobilia Auction, where neon signs ruled the block. Taking top honors for the day when it sold for $51,750 was a brightly colored and beautifully restored Republic Oil Supply Company neon sign from the 1950s. Other neon signs that literally lit up the stage included a notable 1930s Ford V8 example that brought in $29,900, a massive Buick sign from the 1940s-50s that sold for $28,750, and a 1930s-40s Chevrolet Super Service neon that went to its new home for $26,450. Standing tall was a rare Ferrari street clock – one of just four commissioned by Ferrari to accompany the first Enzo Supercars at their auto show debuts. The stunning clock sold for $33,350.

In addition to John Elway, Mariano Rivera and John Force being on hand at the auction Friday for the sale of their cars, other well-known names enjoying all Barrett-Jackson has to offer included Jeff Gordon, Paul Tracy, Ryan Friedlinghaus, Bubba Watson, Pat Perez, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Scott Disick.

Be sure to join us for what promises to be an off-the-charts Super Saturday! To get you revved up for the big day, check out what went on at Friday’s auction in the photo gallery below, as well as a video of the sale of the VIN 001 Lexus!
