The 7th Annual Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas Auction ended in most spectacular fashion Saturday as crowds packed the Mandalay Bay Events Center to witness more than 200 incredible vehicles cross the block in what proved to be the most successful Las Vegas auction in Barrett-Jackson history. From smoking hot Hemis and classic sports cars to sleek celebrity cars, there was something to please everyone.
A huge highlight of the day was the auction of three fantastic cars donated to charity by the “Big 3” American auto makers—Chevy, Ford and Chrysler. First up, bringing in $147,500 to benefit the YMCA of Southern Nevada, was a stunning 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, VIN 003. This was followed by Ford Motor Company’s outstanding 50 Year Limited Edition Mustang, carrying Badge Number 1964, which brought the hammer down for $170,000 to benefit Henry Ford Heart & Vascular Institute. But what really brought the house down was the much-talked-about 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat as it roared into the arena. The remarkable car was accompanied by Vegas icons Wayne Newton and Penn Jillette, both longtime supporters of the benefitting charity, Opportunity Village Foundation. The most powerful muscle car of all time—a true one-of-one vehicle with a hand finished Stryker Red paint job—went for a whopping $825,000, which was made even sweeter by a matching donation from the Engelstad Family Foundation.
