From the moment the National Anthem was sung to the final hammer, day one of Barrett-Jackson’s 7th Annual Las Vegas Auction was full of rumbling V8s and sparkling chrome. A packed house of bidders and observers watched more than 220 vehicles cross the block, from the oldest (a 1911 Ford Model T Convertible) to the newest (a 2013 Special Construction Café Racer motorcycle), including interesting conversation pieces like a 2001 Husqvarna 125 motorcycle ridden by Vin Diesel in the film “XXX” and a 2000 Jaguar XK8 Custom Convertible painted in British colors to resemble the Austin Powers car. What were the coolest cars of the day? Here are some notable stand-outs:
Lot 3000 – NASCAR superstar Richard Petty’s 2012 Ford Fusion race car sold for $100,000, with all proceeds going to Paralyzed Veterans of America, several of whom were on the block for the big event.
