One of just 553 Metallic Golden Beige Austin-Healey 3000s ever built, this 1967 convertible (Lot #1303) has a long history of capturing honors as car shows.
If you want to acquire a collector car for fun, buy a model you’re passionate about. If you want to get a collector car that could hold its value, buy the absolute best example you can find.
In an ideal world, do both: Find a great specimen of a car that stirs your soul. At the 49th Annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale event, Jan. 11-19, buyers will have many opportunities to do just that and find fantastic cars of every era and description.
For lovers of classic British sports cars, crossing the Barrett-Jackson auction block at No Reserve as Lot #1303 will be one of the finest 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 Mark III BJ8 roadsters anywhere, with documentation and history to prove it.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate that comes with the car is a certified copy of this Austin-Healey’s original factory ledger, showing its specifications as it left the production line, as well as the dates it was built.
The certificate shows that this Austin-Healey 3000 was built between March 29-31, 1967, and was a North American export, which means it originally came from the factory with left-hand drive. It rolled off the assembly line trimmed in Metallic Golden Beige paint with black trim and a black top. Major factory equipment included overdrive, wire wheels, road speed tires, heater, adjustable steering column and a laminated windscreen.
This magnificent Austin-Healey was originally shipped to a dealer in Charleston, South Carolina. According to the consignor, it spent most of its life in North Carolina, which is documented with titles and registration copies that go with the car. It is a seven-owner vehicle and has been with the same owner since October 2001 until now.
The consignor says the car was painstakingly restored to exact concours judging specifications over a six-year period from 2001 to 2007 to return it to its exact factory specifications and appearance. Since the full restoration, this Austin-Healey has been driven just 3,500 miles.
One of just 553 Metallic Golden Beige Austin-Healey 3000s ever built, this car has a long history of capturing honors as car shows, including multiple Gold awards from the prestigious Austin-Healey Concours Registry Show, where it scored 978 and 987 of a possible 1,000 points.
Other awards include the Hilton Head Concours d’Elegance, Best in Class; Southeastern Classic Healeys in the Smokies, Award of Excellence, Best of Show and People’s Choice; Shenandoah Valley British Car Club, First in Class; and The Gathering, First in Class. All the awards and judging sheets are included with the car, as are the convertible top cover, interior cover, owner’s manuals, service manuals, technical information, magazine articles and books.
This is a carefully restored, no-expense-spared, real-deal, award-winning car with full and extensive documentation to satisfy even the most demanding British sports car enthusiast. You may never see a better example of a 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 Mark III BJ8, but you can add this remarkable example to your collection at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale.
