General Motors made quite a splash at the Barrett-Jackson Northeast Auction on Friday, bringing four significant 2019 Chevrolet Corvettes to the block – two of them bearing VIN 001, and one that has even more significance. An exact replica of what will be the very last C7 Corvette ever built roared up onto the stage with an important purpose: to raise funds for the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s Smart Home program, which builds smart homes for our most catastrophically injured service members returning home. With the bidding escalating rapidly, the hammer came down on a winning bid of $2.7 million, all of which will go to the foundation, while the winning bidder will be driving a significant piece of Chevrolet history.

The Chevrolet Collection Corvettes not only set records with their sales, they were among the top sellers of some 200 vehicles that made their way across the auction block on Friday, with other noteworthy sales including a 1969 Plymouth GTX convertible, two Mustangs and a custom 1957 Chevrolet 210. A number of records were also set during the day, including the sale of 1966 Plymouth Satellite convertible, which caused the arena to erupt in cheers when it brought in $84,700.

Neon signs, mini-bikes and gas pumps attracted the attention of bidders during the morning’s Automobilia Auction, with an animated Mobil Oil Pegasus porcelain neon sign from 1954 coming out on top with a $17,250 price tag.

A special feature during Friday’s activities was the arrival of the World Series Trophy, which was brought to the auction block and displayed on-site by Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Program. Fans were able to take photos with the famed trophy and register to win some great prizes, all while learning about Home Base’s work to support veterans and their families impacted by invisible wounds.

The busy day was full of fun for car enthusiasts of all ages! Check out the video below of the exciting auction of the last-built C7 Corvette, enjoy the photo gallery of highlights on the auction block and around the site on Friday – and buckle up for what promised to be an exciting Super Saturday at Barrett-Jackson.
