All proceeds benefit Paralyzed Veterans of America
Seven-time NASCAR Champion and NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee Richard Petty has visited victory lane countless times, but no victory will be as powerful as the one about to happen Thursday at the 7th Annual Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas Auction. “The King” will auction an important part of his racing history, with all proceeds going to Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Crossing the block at about 5 p.m. in the presence of Petty himself will be the iconic Petty Blue and STP Day-Glo red Ford Fusion race car created in 2012 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the legendary racing collaboration of STP and Richard Petty Motorsports. The famed race car was piloted by NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Aric Almirola in the 2012 STP 400 at Kansas Speedway. It was his first year driving for Richard Petty Motorsports, and Almirola, who is now in the hunt for the 2014 NASCAR Spring Cup Championship, was thrilled to be following in Petty’s footsteps by driving a car sporting both the renowned #43 and the commemorative colors.
The 2012 Ford Fusion boasts a 358 ROUSH Yates engine with a dry sump oil system, 12:1 compression ratio, and over 700 hp and 500 ft/lbs of torque. It comes complete with roller cam valve train and 830cfm Holley carburetor. The STP livery is same classic design driven by during the ’90s. The race car is in track-ready condition with race brakes, transmission, rear gear, seat, safety belts and safety systems.
Just as Barrett-Jackson has a longtime commitment to philanthropy since their first car auction back in 1971, Richard Petty and Richard Petty Motorsports have a long history of supporting Paralyzed Veterans of America through Barrett-Jackson events, raising more than $355,000 for the charity over the years. During the past four years, Paralyzed Veterans of America has raised over $1 million to help continue the important work they do for disabled veterans and their families. Barrett-Jackson is proud to partner with Richard Petty Motorsports and the one-and-only Richard Petty for this worthy cause.
