NEW CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE TO SET THE STAGE FOR THE 2ND ANNUAL BARRETT-JACKSON NORTHEAST AUCTION

Judging by the response to the Inaugural Barrett-Jackson Northeast Auction at Mohegan Sun in 2016, the enthusiasm for collector cars in that part of the country is more than alive and well – it is flourishing.

Collector car fans in the Northeast will have another chance to indulge their passion this summer with the very first New England Concours d’Elegance, to be held on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 18, 2017, the weekend before the 2nd Annual Barrett-Jackson Northeast Auction.

The concours, which will feature some 100 elegantly designed and restored classic cars from around the world, will be held in the Turtle Lot at Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino in Connecticut. Gates open at 9:30 a.m., with the prestigious New England Concours d’Elegance Best in Show announced by chief judge Ken Gross at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Submissions for the automobiles to compete are now being reviewed and, upon acceptance, invitations will be sent for this inaugural event, which will fittingly be presented by Barrett-Jackson. “It is evident from the unprecedented response to our inaugural Northeast Auction last year that Barrett-Jackson is a perfect fit for the region,” said Barrett-Jackson Chairman and CEO Craig Jackson. “Serving as the presenting sponsor of the New England Concours d’Elegance is just one more way we can share our passion for the collector car hobby in this part of the country.”

The concours will be preceded by a car show from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, where – for just a $10 car entry fee – owners of muscle cars, hot rods, Resto-Mods and more can show off their vehicles while enjoying a host of vendor booths and food venues. The event, open to the first 300 cars, will also be held in the Turtle Lot at Mohegan Sun, which affords a spectacular view of the Thames River. A master of ceremonies will interview owners about their cars, and parts of the event will be judged, with approximately 50 awards handed out.

John Lyons, founder and chairman of the New England Concours d’Elegance, is no stranger to the collector car world and notable concours events, having been the founding partner of the Newport Concours d’Elegance and serving on the advisory board of LeMay – America’s Car Museum in Washington state. “It’s going to be an exciting weekend for anyone interested in automotive history, culture and style,” said Lyons.

A portion of the proceeds from the weekend’s events – both of which are open to the public – will go towards the preservation of collector cars, as well as to charitable organizations benefiting veterans and children fighting cancer.
