PORSCHE 911 CELEBRATION: Stunning examples set to cross the block in Palm Beach

There are Porsches aplenty in Palm Beach this weekend, but one model in particular is drawing a lot of attention: the Porsche 911. There are nine on the docket, with seven slated to go across the block today. The high-performance German sports car, which made its debut in 1963, has a rear-mounted 6-cylinder boxer engine and all-round independent suspension. Although it has continuously developed, the basic concept has changed little. The engines were air-cooled until the introduction of the Type 996 in 1998 with Porsche’s “993” series. Produced in model years 1995-1998, the 993 was the last of the air-cooled Porsches.
