We are deeply saddened to learn that our dear friend Greg Mauzy passed away in his home state of Texas earlier this week. Greg has been a prominent member of the Barrett-Jackson family since he first attended our 2008 Palm Beach auction.

Known for his philanthropic nature, Greg gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to various deserving charities through charity auctions over the last several years; much of which was donated on top of his own winning bid.

Greg was a popular figure amongst the collector car community. He had one of the most enjoyable personalities and one of the biggest hearts. Everyone loved being around Greg as he had a way of putting a smile on everyone’s face.

One particular instance that will remain deep-rooted in our memory of Greg was his purchase of a 2009 Dodge Charger Race Car at the 2011 Scottsdale auction. The entirety of his $150,000 purchase benefited the Paralyzed Veterans of America. Greg’s generosity and giving nature led to few dry eyes in the arena as he was embraced by Barrett-Jackson executives Craig Jackson, Steve Davis and Gary Bennett, as well as friends, NASCAR legend Richard Petty and NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick. Later, in the very same auction, Greg donated an additional $300,000 through two other charity lots, a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS Calloway/Hendrick Edition and a GM Performance Parts LSX454R Crate Engine.

His love for American muscle shined brightly at each auction. From Mustangs, Chargers and GTOs, to Camaros, Corvettes, and Firebirds, Greg truly appreciated the American automotive history both old and new. In addition to amassing his own collection, Greg also served on the Board of Directors for the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Greg is survived by his wife Michelle; children Dustin and Kacey; grandchildren Wesley, Elizabeth, Garrett and Emily; mother Glenda; sisters Reneé and Michelle, niece Jennifer; nephew Jeffrey; as well as extended family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of them during this difficult time.

“Greg holds a very special place in our hearts,” said Craig Jackson. “We’re all very fortunate for the time we spent with him and he will be deeply missed. Greg will forever be a part of the Barrett-Jackson family.”
