Another incredible day at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach! The arena was filled with excitement as collector car enthusiasts of all ages witnessed some record-breaking auction action.

Two world records were shattered today. There was deafening applause as a pristine 1987 Buick Grand National GNX (Lot #387) sold for $165,000. Not long after, one of the most beloved movie cars of all time crossed the block. Herbie, a 1963 Volkswagen Beetle Sunroof Custom (Lot #394) was purchased by philanthropist and world-renowned car collector John Staluppi for $126,500 – the most ever for a VW Beetle sold at auction – and will find a new home in his Cars of Dreams museum.

As they did yesterday, the collector car community went all-out for charity today. The crowd roared with approval when popular WWE wrestling great Hulk Hogan took to the stage to assist in the auction of a head-turning 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Custom (Lot #3003.1) for charity. Showing his ability to work a crowd, Hogan offered to rip the shirt off his back and give it to the winning bidder. The car, donated by SJO Foundation for Hope, fetched $150,000, 100 percent of which will go to three great causes: Connor’s Cure, AHERO – America’s Hero and The Grace Project.

There was no mistaking the impressive roar of a race car engine as another charity Camaro of the day hit the stage. A powerful 2015 Chevrolet Camaro COPO (Lot #3003) designed to compete in NHRA drag racing, revved the bidding up to $300,000, every penny of which goes to the Achilles Freedom Team, an organization that provides support to wounded veterans, children and athletes with disabilities.
