LOT #1575 – 1961 CHEVROLET CORVETTE CUSTOM CONVERTIBLE – SOLD! $181,500
Following the most exhilarating Super Saturday in the history of Barrett-Jackson, the 50th Anniversary celebration continued at WestWorld of Scottsdale on Sunday with a docket of amazing cars and automotive-related memorabilia.
More than 150 cars crossed the block on the ninth and final day of the record-breaking 2022 Scottsdale Auction. Muscle cars and SUVs drove sales, with seven vehicles surpassing the six-figure mark. Lot #1575, a 1961 Chevrolet Corvette Custom Convertible was the day’s top-selling car, commanding $181,500. Additional top vehicles were Lot #1601, 1979 Porsche 930 Turbo Custom Coupe, $132,000; Lot #1602, 1970 International Travelall Custom SUV, $110,000; #1603, 1996 Ford Bronco Custom SUV, $110,000; Lot #1607, 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 Custom Hardtop, $110,000; and Lot #1610, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396, and Lot #1618, 2019 Chevrolet Corvette GS, both of which sold for $101,200.
More than two dozen sales records were set during the afternoon. Trucks and SUVs were bidder and fan favorites throughout each day of the Auction, and Sunday was no exception, with approximately two-thirds of the day’s record-breaking sales belonging to the rugged vehicles.
Sunday started with another exciting look at the past, with more than 165 authentic pieces of history getting their turn on the auction block. From tin advertising signs and artistic posters to glass gas globes, vending machines, jukeboxes, pedal cars and much more — there was something for everyone. Lot #9584, a meticulously restored Western-themed Vintage Horse Race kiddie ride galloped away with the morning’s top sale price of $63,250. Lot #9597.3, a 10-foot-long light up Porsche Automobiles light-up dealership signs, was a close second, selling for $57,500. Rounding out the top spots were Lot #9559.1, an early 1910s Le Gaulois Pneumatiques Tires automotive showroom poster, $44,850; and Lot #9598.8, a rare 1950s Red Owl Grocery Stores porcelain sign with neon, $34,500.
Our gratitude is extended to each and every bidder, consignor, sponsor, exhibitor, guest and fan who helped us celebrate our 50th Anniversary at the 2022 Scottsdale Auction. You’re the reason we’re The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions.
