1965 ROLLS-ROYCE SILVER CLOUD III
With the April 18-20 Palm Beach Auction at the South Florida Fairgrounds quickly approaching, we wanted to celebrate some of the amazing cars seen in the new and popular Apple TV+ show “Palm Royale.” The series takes place in Palm Beach in 1969 and features several incredible vehicles from the era.
The show follows Maxine Simmons, played by Kristen Wiig, and her endeavors to break into Palm Beach high society. While it’s a story about the haves and the have-nots and the things people will do to be a part of an exclusive group, the show offers a little something for everyone, including car enthusiasts.
Among the skilled actors, mesmerizing sets filled with palm trees and fringed pool parasols, and exquisite fashion in every hue from Bubblegum Pink and Canary Yellow to Tangerine and Avocado, we can’t help but notice the collector cars throughout the show. Maxine’s mid-1960s Plymouth Belvedere provides a symbolic contrast to the Baby Blue Rolls-Royce driven by Dinah Donahue (Leslie Bibb) and the big-body Rolls-Royce Maxine finds under a tarp at dear old Aunt Norma’s house (Carol Burnett). And of course, we can’t forget about the beautiful Jaguar E-Type driven by Ann Holiday (Mindy Cohn), the new society editor of “The Shiny Sheet” newspaper.
Take a look at this gallery of memorable sales at Barrett-Jackson auctions inspired by “Palm Royale” that celebrate one of the most influential decades in automotive history.
