The momentum is increasing as Barrett-Jackson’s 45th Anniversary celebration continues in Scottsdale. Automobilia kicked off the morning, with vintage dealership signs continuing to be among the top sellers. Thousands of people streamed through the gates as the day progressed, eager to witness nearly 300 collector cars crossing the auction stage and explore the variety of activities around the vast auction site.

Attractions moved into high gear, with Ride ’N Drives and Thrill Rides from Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge in full swing. Animal Planet’s Road to Puppy Bowl opened today in the Velocity Lounge. This daily dose of cuteness is a live replica of the most anticipated canine event of the year, Puppy Bowl, featuring adoptable dogs from the Arizona Humane Society.

Fans filled the auction arena to standing-room-only capacity on and off throughout the day as the cars hammered sold. Notable sales included a 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 that sold for $63,800. Two Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Bandit Special Editions brought the crowd to their feet when one sold right after the other. A 1977 model (Lot #480) sold for $82,500, and a 1980 version (Lot #480.1) with only 750 miles on the clock followed it with a hammer price of $110,000.

Gas Monkey Garage's 1967 Dodge Dart custom (Lot #486) sold for $74,800.

The winning bidder on the 1977 Bandit Trans Am was none other than Richard Rawlings of Gas Monkey Garage, who was selling as well as buying. Fans were especially eager to see his 1967 Dodge Dart cross the block. Built for a head-to-head, winner-take-all grudge match documented on the show “Fast N’ Loud,” this beast known as the “Shart Cat” with its 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat engine sold for $74,800.

The second of 11 scheduled charity cars sold ‒ Lot #3001, a 2015 custom Jeep Wrangler – with 100 percent of the hammer price going to ChildHelp through SEMA Cares. Among those onstage to encourage bidding were Childhelp founders Sara O’Meara and Yvonne Fedderson, Maricopa County attorney Bill Montgomery, Arizona Diamondbacks third base coach Matt Williams and Miss United Nations Tes Scanlon.
