The Laymon Family Collection is headed to the 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction, presented by Gila River Resorts & Casinos, Oct. 10-13 at WestWorld. This remarkable collection showcases 24 distinctive No Reserve vehicles, each reflecting the diverse automotive passions of the Laymon family from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Collector cars represent a cherished connection for the Laymons, with each family member having a unique interest within the hobby that they love to share together. Their family gatherings are filled with lively discussions about car shows to attend and which vehicles to bring, ensuring they don’t compete against each other. Attending Barrett-Jackson auctions has become a beloved family tradition, along with road trips to acquire new cars and drive them home across the country.
Headlining the family’s collection is a custom 1967 Chevrolet Nova featuring a professionally built Pro-Touring setup. It’s powered by a Chevrolet 502ci big-block engine paired with a GM 4-speed 4L60E automatic transmission, driving a Fab 9 posi-traction rear with 3.73 gears. The Nova includes TCI Pro-Touring coilover suspension, power rack & pinion steering, and hydro-boost braking. Large Wilwood power disc brakes provide stopping power. The car sits on staggered Boze Traction billet aluminum wheels, accommodated by a Detroit Speed rear mini-tubbed kit. Finished in BMW Space Gray Pearl, the custom black interior features Lexus electric bucket seats, power windows, a Vintage Air system, Classic Instruments gauges, a Lokar shifter and a tilt steering column. Complementing the Pro-Touring Nova in the collection is a custom 1963 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova.
2024 SCOTTSDALE FALL AUCTION – 1969 CHEVROLET CAMARO SS CUSTOM CONVERTIBLE – NO RESERVE
Chevrolet’s Camaro features prominently, led by two outstanding 1969 models. The first, a custom gray example, features a Dynacorn body and was built by Brand New Muscle Car over three years with no expense spared. It sits on an Art Morrison IRS chassis with QA1 coilovers and is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V8 engine paired with an 8L90 automatic transmission. The interior includes custom leather and suede, Mercedes carpets, a KICKER sound system, power windows and door locks, a modern radio with Bluetooth, tinted windows and a custom roll cage.
A red Pro-Touring 1969 Camaro SS Resto-Mod convertible has a 502ci engine rated with 700 horsepower. It’s backed by a 5-speed manual transmission. The Camaro features a red interior with chrome accents and comes with two boot covers, matching the interior and top.
In addition to the two 1969 Camaros, the Laymon family is parting ways with their custom 1968 model. It’s powered by a V8 engine equipped with headers and backed by an automatic transmission.
2024 SCOTTSDALE FALL AUCTION – 1967 CHEVROLET CORVETTE CUSTOM CONVERTIBLE – NO RESERVE
The collection also features a trio of Corvettes from different model years: 1967, 1968 and 1972. The custom 1967 Corvette, built to Pro-Touring specs, is powered by a new Gen V LS3 376ci engine with a 6L80 6-speed automatic transmission. It has Shark Bite front and rear coilovers, a Stinger hood, a modified center console and PPG Cyber Metallic Gray paint with 17-inch U.S. Mags two-tone chrome rims. The tan saddle-leather interior is custom designed with German tight loop carpeting.
The collection’s 1968 Corvette 427/390 convertible is powered by its matching-numbers 427ci V8 engine with a 4-speed manual transmission, factory-correct power steering and original smog system. Riding on the original Rallye wheels, the car is NCRS-certified at 95.9 points. Concluding the Corvette offerings is a 1972 Corvette T-Top coupe (97470) powered by a 350ci small-block V8 engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission.
No collection would be complete without some representation of the iconic Tri-Five Bel Air. Included in this offering is a 1957 Bel Air convertible that received a professional rotisserie restoration and is powered by its matching-numbers Power Pack 283ci V8 engine with 4-barrel carburetor, mated to a 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. The second Bel Air is a custom 2-Door Post from 1955. This Resto-Mod is powered by a 327ci 8-cylinder engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. It features updated 18- and 20-inch American Racing wheels.
2024 SCOTTSDALE FALL AUCTION – 1967 CHEVROLET CHEVELLE CUSTOM CONVERTIBLE – NO RESERVE
Resto-Modded and original muscle cars are part of the collection as well. The offering’s 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Resto-Mod convertible is powered by an LS3 V8 engine backed by a 5-speed manual transmission. Another attention-grabber is a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible that has undergone a frame-off restoration and is powered by a completely rebuilt, period-correct 396ci 8-cylinder engine mated to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission.
The collection’s 1961 Chevrolet Impala SS custom bubble top is powered by a 327ci V8 engine mated to a TH700R4 4-speed automatic transmission. Rounding out the offering are a 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible that has undergone a complete frame-off restoration and a 1969 Oldsmobile 442 holiday coupe powered by a 400ci 8-cylinder engine with a 4-barrel carburetor coupled to a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission.

The Laymon Family Collection features an array of restored and custom-built trucks, SUVs and even a toy hauler – each with a unique story and selling with No Reserve at the 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction.
A custom 1988 Land Rover Defender 90 was imported from Italy in 2021. This left-hand-drive model underwent a frame-off restoration and is powered by a 2.5-liter turbo-diesel inline-4 engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and dual-range transfer case. With LED exterior lights, all-terrain tires on beadlock alloy wheels and brand-new suspension, brakes, spindles and sway bars, this Defender is ready for any adventure.
A field find transformed into a showstopper, a custom 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer in the collection underwent a two-year overhaul. Powered by a 454ci V8 engine mated to a TH400 automatic transmission, it features dual electric fans, power steering and a dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. A 2-inch body lift and 33-inch tires enhance its off-road capabilities. The interior, featuring bucket seats from an ’80s Blazer and power windows, combines vintage charm with modern functionality.
A custom 1952 Chevrolet 5700 hauler discovered in a Virginia apple orchard received a ground-up restoration. It retains its period-correct 1958 235ci inline-6 engine and original 4-speed manual transmission. The all-original cab sheet metal is finished in Cape Maroon, and the vehicle is riding on six new General tires. Converted to a car carrier, it includes a remote winch, hidden ramps and stainless-steel side storage.
Also included in the offering is a custom 1990 GMC Jimmy powered by a 454ci engine from an H2 Hummer and featuring the original interior and updated radio. A 1977 Chevrolet Silverado custom pickup, with its 454ci V8 engine, gleams in Corvette Yellow with Pearl Burgundy flames and features chromed-out components, leather seats and a custom sound system.
The collection’s custom 1977 Ford F-150 pickup had a recent frame-on restoration. It features a 6.6-liter 400ci engine, WARN hubs, a 6-inch suspension lift and 35-inch Toyo Open Country tires.
A custom 1949 Studebaker pickup stands out with its 392ci Chrysler HEMI engine, dual big 4-barrel carburetors and custom “Surf Blanket” seat covers. Concluding the collection’s truck and SUV offerings is a 1978 Chevrolet El Camino pickup with a rebuilt 305ci V8 engine.
