There’s always a fair amount of magic happening behind the curtain. For a while now, the Barrett-Jackson Builds team has been hard at work on three equally different – and equally unique – projects sure to wow and inspire, from updating a unique Shelby Resto-Mod and engineering the ultimate Grand Touring Camaro to giving an “American Idol” a new lease on life. The Barrett-Jackson Builds team has invested the time, and the fruits of their labor are beginning to grow into four exemplary pieces of kinetic sculpture.
Breaking new ground in terms of innovation has always been an important part of Barrett-Jackson, and that same ethos holds true for the Builds team. Coming from the personal collection of Barrett-Jackson Chairman and CEO Craig Jackson, the build of a 1967 Shelby GT500 is sure to send ripples through the hot-rodding world. Resto-Modded in a previous life, the custom Shelby was brought in for repairs, but plans quickly changed– and changed for the better. The GT500 is being rebuilt into the ultimate Shelby GT500 Resto-Mod, a car that will push the limits of technology and show off the engineering prowess on hand at Barrett-Jackson Builds. Though still in its early stages, the build of this Shelby will be chronicled, documented and shared on Barrett-Jackson’s popular media channels.
Also on the horizon is the ultimate Resto-Mod Camaro for the ultimate in road-going adventures – that’s how it was billed and that’s how it will be built. Starting off as a fully licensed 1969 Chevy Camaro body from Dynacorn, the goal of this build – which is sponsored by eBay Motors and Craftsman – is to create the perfect Grand Touring Resto-Mod, one that shows the inherent customizability of what happens when you build a car from the ground up. Utilizing top-notch parts that include a Connect & Cruise Powertrain Package from General Motors, suspension from SpeedTech and an interior from TMI, the Camaro build is sure to be a wonderful exploration of what’s possible.
Formerly owned by “American Idol” and “X-Factor” judge Simon Cowell, the Barrett-Jackson Builds 1977 Ford Bronco project has taken on a full Resto-Mod transformation. Acquired at the 2020 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction and now part of the personal collection of Barrett-Jackson Chairman and CEO Craig Jackson, the Bronco was taken in for a simple refinish of the underside but now has become a full, chassis-off restoration.
The restoration of the Bronco captures the momentum behind the demand for classic SUVs, and this Builds series will provide insight and tips on what to look for when restoring Ford’s classic off-roader.
The soon-to-be-launched next chapter of Barrett-Jackson Builds videos will take viewers on an episodic journey following the paths of these custom creations. Afterall, this is a series all about illuminating the journey from project plan to final execution, the result of having a vision and a complete commitment to excellence.
