With just 80 miles on the odometer, this 2017 Ford GT (Lot #1377) – along with its purpose-built trailer and a very special watch – is headed to the 2021 Scottsdale Auction, where it will be selling with No Reserve.

2017 Ford GT_front34On any list, any hierarchy of fabled motorsport achievements, there is certain to be a mention of Ford and Ferrari’s 1966 Le Mans duel. Few legacies in racing match the multilayered web of drama that even the Hollywood machine couldn’t stay away from. And why would they? The story has reverberated around the racing community for decades, with the GT40 becoming the stuff of legend. A team of hot-rodders led by a famous Texas chicken farmer built a car to challenge the foreign-car supremacy rampant at the highest levels of endurance racing. It was a matter of national pride; a demonstration of America’s “can-do” attitude – the very same that could land a man on the moon or challenge Ferrari at Le Mans. In the end both were moon shots, and both were successful.

Some five decades later, Ford planned a return to Le Mans, ready for a chance to astonish the world and celebrate the 50th anniversary of their ’66 achievement. A Ford racing legend was about to be born once again. But this was more than a wade into nostalgia, more than just a grasp at past glories. With the second-generation Ford GT, things were different.

2017 Ford GT_sideBeginning in the fall of 2013, a secret project began to take form. Hidden in plain sight behind an inconspicuous door was a converted storage space in Ford’s product development studio. There, a skunkworks team of 25 engineers and designers living off energy drinks and protein bars were working on what would become a future champion.

“We wanted to truly surprise the industry with this product,” said Dave Pericak, global director of Ford Performance. “We wanted to bring the auto show back to what it should have always been, which was surprise and a bit of a delight that this is not only a concept car, this is real. It’s all about lightweight, aerodynamics, fuel efficiency and power.” The result was the all-new 2017 Ford GT, a retro/futuristic spaceship developed concurrently as a racer fixated on Le Mans and road car ready to tame any tarmac.

2017 Ford GT_EngineFrom the onset, engineers worked to shape every crease, angle, vent and channel to maximize downforce and minimize drag. The flying buttresses house ducting to feed air into the engine while simultaneously providing strength and rigidity. The carbon-fiber passenger shell features an integrated tubular steel roll cage. Nestled behind the driver in the teardrop-shaped fuselage sits the 647hp 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6. Mated to a 7-speed Getrag dual-clutch gearbox, the GT can hit 60 mph in 2.9 seconds and scream to a top speed of over 217 mph. Even the GT’s suspension was relocated inboard to reduce underbody space and help manage airflow.

2017 Ford GT_interiorBarrett-Jackson is once again excited to bring cutting-edge performance and legacy to the forefront of the 2021 Scottsdale Auction. Offered with No Reserve is a stunning and unique 2017 Ford GT (Lot #1377) that features a wealth of accompanying extras.

Finished in Shadow Black paint and outfitted with the stripe delete option, this one-owner GT is complete with just 80 actual miles and rides on 20-inch Diamond Silver wheels with massive carbon-ceramic brakes and red Brembo brake calipers wrapped in sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubber. The EcoBoost engine breathes through a titanium exhaust system, and the cabin is lush with exposed carbon-fiber and Alcantara trimmings. The GT wears the “Re-Entry” interior theme and features an Ebony wrapped-leather steering wheel that is beautifully contrasted by the appliqué of white leather to the dashboard and seats.

The lucky winning bidder on the 2017 Ford GT will also get this Autodromo watch, sold exclusively to Ford GT owners and engraved with the car’s chassis number.

Then there’s an option worn not by the car, but rather the driver. The winning bidder of this GT will also be the new owner of an Autodromo watch, sold exclusively to Ford GT owners. The watch, the Ford GT Owners Edition Chronograph, comes engraved with the car’s chassis number and was designed in collaboration with Ford. The Chronograph features a 43mm case made of a combination of ceramic and steel, a honeycomb dial with overlaid sapphire hands and is powered by a La Joux-Perret flyback chronograph movement. In short, the watch perfectly encapsulates the GT’s technical brilliance.

2017 Ford GT_trailer

This purpose-built trailer will be sold along with the 2017 Ford GT.

Other accompanying items include the GT ordering sheet, owner’s manuals, locking chrome lug nuts, indoor/outdoor car covers and, most importantly, a purpose-built JIMGLO Elite trailer sold alongside, designed in collaboration with the Ford GT team for the best trailer experience possible. “It’s been extremely rewarding to work with the Ford GT team, and to witness firsthand their unwavering commitment to the legacy of the Ford GT cars,” said Tim Norris, JIMGLO Trailers CEO. The trailer, specially engineered to meet the requirements of the Ford GT, features a special ramp door extension to prevent the ultra-low GT from scraping during loading, awell as an expansive escape door and removable fenders to allow the butterfly doors to fully open inside.

The Ford GT represents the ultimate in America’s “can-do” attitude, and this special car with its special accoutrements is ready to be driven or trailered to its next track day. Bid well.
