LOT #1434.1 – 1963 FORD GALAXIE 500 XL CUSTOM COUPE – NO RESERVE
The Ford Galaxie has always been an alluring vehicle, turning heads wherever it travels. At the 2025 Scottsdale Auction, a very special 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 XL custom two-door (Lot 1434.1) will be offered with No Reserve. What makes this award-winning custom so attention-grabbing is that it blends raw power with modern sophistication in a way that few classics can.
At the heart of this Galaxie lies a 2017 Ford 5.0-liter Coyote engine, delivering muscle worthy of its iconic lineage. The aluminum block and heads are crowned with custom valve covers by One Ten Machining, framing a VMP Performance supercharger paired with a bespoke air intake system. The engine breathes through 1-7/8-inch stainless-steel headers and Borla 3-inch stainless tubing, flowing through to Borla Pro XS mufflers. Power management comes courtesy of a Ford 6R80 transmission, shifted via a Lokar shifter and cooled by a remote transmission cooler with its own electric fan. Engine temperatures stay in check with a custom aluminum radiator by Brice Thomas Radiator, assisted by dual GS Cooling electric fans. An XS Power AGM battery powers the system, integrated via a Ron Francis Wiring harness, ensuring seamless performance.
The Galaxie’s prowess is grounded by a REVO custom chassis from the Roadster Shop. Designed for modern handling, the chassis features a 3-inch-wider front track width, enabling the engine to sit lower for improved center of gravity. The independent front suspension employs large-diameter TIG-welded control arms, AFCO coilovers and Baer Brakes 14-inch drilled-and-slotted rotors paired with brushed-nickel 6-piston calipers. Steering is precise thanks to Flaming River’s manual rack & pinion system with Microsteer Electrical Power Assisted Steering.
The rear suspension is no less impressive, featuring a Strange Engineering Ford 9-inch rear end with 31-spline axles, a 3.70 limited-slip differential, a 4-link setup and a splined sway bar. Penske coilovers and Baer 12-inch brakes with nickel-plated 4-piston calipers provide excellent stopping power. All corners are fitted with custom one-off wheels by Eric Brockmeyer, powder-coated with brushed nickel hoops by Mr. Speed and wrapped in Federal high-performance rubber – 19×9.5-inch in the front with 265/35R19 tires and 20×12.5-inch in the rear with 345/30R20 tires.
The exterior is stunning and serves as a tribute to classic craftsmanship with subtle modern tweaks. The rockers were extended 1 inch lower to integrate seamlessly with the frame rails, while a custom rear belly pan with heat vents aids exhaust cooling. Custom CNC work enhances the grille, and 3-inch-wider rear wheel tubs accommodate the massive rear tires. The fit and finish are impeccable, showcasing the skill of the builder in fabricating and refining the Galaxie’s silhouette.
Inside, the cabin redefines luxury with hand-crafted panels, a reimagined center console and tailored seating. Moore and Giles Carlyle leather – renowned for its uniform color and soft, semi-aniline finish – drapes every surface, offering both elegance and durability. DEI Boom Mat is strategically installed to ensure a hushed, refined ride.
This Galaxie combines cutting-edge performance with timeless style, proving that classic muscle can thrive in a modern world. It stands as a testament to the artistry and engineering prowess of those who brought it to life. Register to bid today.
