It’s hard to believe Barrett-Jackson is already celebrating 10 years in Las Vegas. With the economic uncertainty at the time, we faced some skepticism when we announced a new auction – but any doubt was laid to rest when more than $29 million in collector cars were sold at that first event. And we’ve seen continued success in Las Vegas ever since.

Like each of our auctions, Vegas has a character all its own. When you combine the excitement of the auction arena with the celebrity factor and all the glitz of the Strip, it makes for one electrifying event. It’s really one big party that starts out with one exciting celebration: our Opening Night Party. Once again this year, we’ll be at the fantastic Drai’s Nightclub overlooking the Strip.

In this issue of the Barrett-Jackson Experience magazine (check out the digital version HERE), we take a look back at some highlights from our decade in the City of Lights – the cars, the celebrities, the incredible charity moments and more.

There’s a big change taking place in the collector car world: more and more millennials are entering the hobby. This was particularly noticeable at our Northeast Auction in June, and I expect it will continue. With this younger generation comes a whole new take on what constitutes a collectible vehicle, too. Back in the 1990s, I never would have predicted that vehicles like Fox Body Mustangs, Volkswagen buses, Broncos and Blazers would be making their mark in the hobby. But then I’m sure back in 1971, when my father Russ Jackson and Tom Barrett founded Barrett-Jackson, they never expected muscle cars, Woody wagons and ’50s convertibles would become so collectible, either. It’s all about rolling with the changes, and we always welcome new enthusiasts into the hobby. You can find out more about this new millennial phenomenon in this issue.

As many of you know, charity has been an important element of Barrett-Jackson since day one. Within these pages, you’ll read about a number of great cars we have lined up to cross our auction block in Las Vegas, with every single penny going directly to their earmarked cause. What’s even more amazing is the longevity these charitable moments have – far beyond the auction itself. As you’ll read in this issue, the connections and relationships built through our charity cars have a lasting impact. Hearing these stories is very humbling for us, and we are honored to have played a part in making them happen.

Barrett-Jackson’s charitable efforts are just one aspect of our commitment to go the extra mile. We also remain dedicated to transparency and honesty, and our team works extremely hard to ensure our buyers, sellers and spectators have the best experience possible. We employ the best in business when it comes to our automotive experts, a team that spends countless hours reviewing consignments, from the moment applications arrive in our office to the moment the vehicles cross the auction block. Most of these consignments will be auctioned with No Reserve, which means they go to the highest bidder, period. This is something unique in the collector car auction business, and something that has worked very well for our consignors throughout our history. You’ll find out about how Barrett-Jackson is “Going the Extra Mile” for our customers in this magazine.

Of course, the reason this hobby even exists is the cars themselves – and the fact that many of us love to work on them. That’s why we’ve brought you an article on factory superchargers, provided tips on how to Resto-Mod your car, and included a piece about the movement to save the manual transmission (something I certainly agree with!). We’ve also taken you “In The Garage” with our new Director of Consignment Relations, Mike McCullough, as well as our new Consignment Fulfillment Manager, Rachelle Mackey. I’m really excited about the way our consignment team is evolving and always working hard to improve our customer service, and I’m sure you will be, too.

Enjoy the sneak preview in this issue of a select few of the hundreds of collector cars being polished as you read this for their big appearance on the Barrett-Jackson auction block. As always, we’ll be bringing you a diverse collection of old and new, original and Resto-Modded – and always a few surprises.

I look forward to seeing you all in Las Vegas!
