Scottsdale Mayor Declares “Barrett-Jackson Week”

Scottsdale, Ariz. – January 8, 2010 – The Barrett-Jackson Auction Company is pleased to announce that Scottsdale Mayor, W. J. Lane, has officially declared January 18 – 24, 2010, “Barrett-Jackson Week” in honor of the company’s 39th Annual Collector Car Auction taking place the same days. The event has become a fixture in the Valley over the past four decades, attracting more than 200,000 visitors from all 50 states and numerous foreign countries, resulting in a more than $90 million impact on the local economy (not including automobile sales), with millions more raised for local charities.

“Having the support of Mayor Lane is not only an honor, but it compels us to continue to provide residents and visitors an enjoyable annual event that simply cannot be duplicated,” said Craig Jackson, chairman/CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “We are proud of our beautiful city and the diverse amenities it offers, and showcase these through our supportive sponsors and strategic partnerships.”

To celebrate, a kick-off reception open to the public has been planned called Classics and Cocktails: Toast to Barrett-Jackson Week, at the W Scottsdale at 10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14. The festivities continue on Saturday, Jan. 16, with a seven mile Road Rally through the streets of downtown Scottsdale, followed that evening by “Barrett-Jackson Night” at the Scottsdale Pavilions with a car show previewing some of the more than 1,100 classic and collector vehicles that will cross the block at auction. In addition, the annual “Drive the Dream” charity gala will take place Saturday, Jan. 16; and Ford Family Value Day benefiting COX Charities and the official Opening Night Gala are both taking place Monday, Jan. 18.

During auction days, the Scottsdale Fairmont Lifestyle Pavilion will offer a variety of activities for the entire family, including: makeup artistry and fragrance services by CHANEL; cooking demonstrations; fine wine and liquor tastings; Live DJs in “The Stone Rose Garage”, the official auction hangout and music lounge, and much more. In addition, a special guest appearance by automotive legend Lee Iacocca is scheduled to take place on Jan. 23 at 11 a.m.; as well as a Corvette marketing seminar on Jan. 21 at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.
