Details
1968 was the first year for the Hurst/Olds sometimes known as 'The gentleman's muscle car.' It was equipped with the largest engine (455) of any muscle car that year. George Hurst convinced Oldsmobile to put a 455 in its Cutlass body and send them to the Demmer Co. to be outfitted with the Hurst 'His/Hers' shifter and transmission. Oldsmobile used its W-30 format (red fender wells, outside air induction, heavy cam and 3.91 gears) for this special production vehicle. Peruvian Silver paint, used only on the Tornado, was applied. Production did not start until April of 1968, therefore, only 515 of these cars were produced. 146 of the 515 were equipped with AC (W-46). According to the Hurst/Olds Club of America, only 28 of the A/C cars remain. H/OCA has secured the Oldsmobile registry and this car is recorded as #225 of 515. These cars had 500 ft/lbs or torque, 380 horsepower and were the fastest production Oldsmoblie of all time. This car is a NUMBERS MATCHING, concours restoration. It was deliverd to Royal Oldsmobile in Louisiana and has 33,000 documented miles.
