Dispatched from SS Cars, Ltd., Coventry, to Henlys of London on November 9, 1936, with the following specifications: chassis no - 12018, body no - 1880, engine no - 251337, exterior/interior trim - suede green, registration - JT5909 (only registered in 1936). SS Cars, Ltd. unveiled the SS - Jaguar to the public in September, 1935. The SS - Jaguar combined stylish appearance and elegant interior trim with superb performance and dependability normally offered only in the exclusively handcrafted Bentley and Rolls-Royce cars of the 1930's era. Whereas the least expensive Bentley cost approximately 1,500 pounds; the SS - Jaguar was priced at 385 pounds. The body is handbeaten steel over an ash frame. The art deco styled interior is all leather, accented by French walnut dash and door trim. The six-cylinder ohv engine was rated at 19.9hp for 1936 tax purposes; but by today's standards, develops about 100 bhp, permitting rapid, smooth acceleration and a comfortable cruise speed of 70 mph. The sunroof, a common accessory of today, came as standard equipment on the 1936 SS - Jaguar. The boot (trunk) can accommodate two large suitcases and houses a complete tool kit. This car was restored to factory original condition in England in 1989 for the current owner. It was not shown competitively until 1996. Since that time it has participated in numerous auto shows and events.
