Of the 1,508 RS Carreras produced, this car is one of only 200 original 'lightweight' (M471 option) specification cars. The RS lightweight weighed less than 2,000 lbs., and featured many special modifications such as light weight body panels and glass, roll bar and minimal trim, thus epitomizing the term 'Power to Weight Ratio'. This car was completed by the factory in April 73. It was retained for some time by a Porsche dealer before being delivered, in 1976, to the Master of Porsche Club Schwaben who raced it with some success. In January 1978 it was sold to a member of the US armed forces stationed in West Germany who shipped it home to the US. Over the ensuing years the car continued to be carefully maintained, driven and shown. It still wears its original Grand Prix White with Blue Carrera script color scheme. The car has a verified original chassis, engine and transmission per a copy of the factory build list and Cardex documents. It is very rare that an original lightweight RS Carrera comes up for sale. This example is one of the most correct and original lightweights in the world.
