This is a rare all numbers matching, low production beast, as it is believed that only 1800 El Caminos were built to this specification in 1966. This '66 came from the factory with the 360 HP, 396 cu. in. (6.5 litre) V8 engine, 4 speed manual transmission with floor shifter and a Positraction rear axle with 4.11:1 gears. This El Camino was owned by one family for 38 years. In restoration, this truck was completely disassembled piece by piece, right down to taking the body off the chassis. The restoration began with block sanding the body time and time again to make sure every little flaw was out, painting the exterior in the original Marina Blue as smooth as glass, painting the chassis gloss black and powder coating the interior fender wells, upper and lower control arms, and suspension components. All new rubber stripping, head lining and door panels, re-upholstering the seats with factory material finished off the interior. The engine has been rebuilt to stock specifications. It is backed by a Muncie four speed with 4.11 gears at the rear. All the engine components, such as the manifolds, the brackets, and the air cleaner are stock items. The big block V8 carries a message on top of the air filter that reads '396 Turbo-Jet 360 HP' which says it all really.
