Details

Black with gray leather interior, walnut wood dash and four pieces of fitted luggage. Powered by a 6-cylinder overhead cam, Bosch Fuel Injection system producing 175hp at 5400rpm and 4-speed transmission on the column. This matching number coupe owned by the second owner for over 25 years. Is one of five (one convertible and four coupes) produced in 1955 and the second of 98 coupes produced from 1955 to 1958. In September 1955, Daimler-Benz introduced the 300SC, a post-war luxury grand touring car. The styling was of pre-war classics lines such as 500 and 540K models. Daimler-Benz produced a total of 200 300SCs from 1955 to 1958-- 98 coupes, 49 cabriolets and 53 roadsters. Production of the 300SC was the lowest Mercedes produced from 1930 to the present year and also the most expensive from the mid-thirties to the mid-seventies. To find a lower production model, you would have to go back 80 years to the SS and SSK models from 1928 to 1934 with a production of 193 automobiles-- just seven less than the 300SC. In today's market, several SS and SSKs have changed hands for more than $2,000,000. Also, looking at the 300SL Gullwing 1954 to 1957 total production of 1,400 automobiles. That is 1,200 more than the 300SC. In 1955, the price of a 300SL Gullwing was $6,800. The 300SC's price was $12,500--almost double the price of the Gullwing and 10 times the price of the new Chevrolet. The 300SC has rapidly appreciated in value over the past few years, especially since museums and major collectors are acquiring them when one becomes available. Looking at the rarity and beauty of the 300SC, one doesn't have to wonder that some day the 300SC will demand the price of the pre-war classic Mercedes. Original books and tool kit.
