Description
Lot #435.2 - Take a New York City hot-dog cart and a top fuel dragster that can hit speeds over 130 mph, and you've got the ultimate hot dog serving machine. This monster was so loud and so fast that the New York City police shut down an attempt by Jesse to show it off live on Letterman. Additional machine parts included a radiator, steering wheel and fuel tank. The team also completed a number or body modifications. They cut the hot-dog cart in half, using the hot-dog dispensers and umbrella as the dragster's body. The '66 Woody Gilmore front-engine slingshot dragster served as the monster's frame. The team's greatest challenge was ensuring the hot-dog cart body was cut with enough room to allow the tires to expand as they drag-raced. They also had to make sure the coupler that rests between Jesse's legs, connecting the transmission to the rear end, was running smoothly; if something went wrong with that, Jesse could be seriously injured. THE TEAM: Jesse James, custom-bike builder/designer, West Coast Choppers, Long Beach, CA, Tom Betar, senior master tech, Ford dealership, West Nyack, NY, Steve Bonge, classic customizer, New York, NY, Mike Desmond, graphic artist and custom-car designer, MAD Machines, Long Beach, CA, Louis Di Raimondo, hot-dog cart manufacturer and owner, All American Hot Dog Carts, Miami, FL, Dan Ferrazzano, mechanic, Ferrazzano Service Center, Philadelphia, PA, Pete Finlan, custom painter, car builder and artist, Hot Dog Designs, Vista, CA, Indian Larry, motorcycle builder, Gasoline Alley, New York, NY, and Dave Tucci, street-rod fabricator, Tucci Engineering, Marcy, NY.
