Description
Lot #1292 - The Boyd Coddington 1942 Ford Woody started out as nothing more than an illustration. A full size version of the illustration was sent to Marcel and Son's and a new body was completely hand formed. Once completed the body was bolted to an Art Morrison chassis using Boyd Coddington Pro Ride Independent suspension front and rear using QA1 coilovers. In between the frame rails a Chevrolet LT1 backed by a Dr. Evil built 700R4 trans was installed. To make the chassis roll a set of Boyd Coddington 18" one off wheels wrapped in Goodyear tires were bolted on. With all the essential pieces in place the body was prepped and painted Dupont Boyd Red then the Birds Eye Maple was applied by Alex Guerrero. As always the interior was entrusted to Gabe Lopez who stitched the yards of tan leather and wool that covers the Mustang buckets, custom built console, door panels, headliner and floor. Finishing touches include a Boyd Coddington steering wheel and a set of Custom Rod Gauges. The complete build was captured on film by the Discovery Channel and shown on the hit series "American Hot Rod", including the unveiling that took place in Hawaii.
