Description
Lot #712 - This car was custom bodied by " Swiss Coachbuilder" Herman Graber for the 1951 Geneva Car Show. It is the original body and was designed as a drophead coupe in early 1951. The car was originally owned by a Swiss industrialist Charles Gillete, until 1965, at which time it was sold to Paul E. Gibson of Washington, DC. It remained in his estate until death in 1998. Mr. Norman Cohen of Atlanta purchased the car in June of 1998 and sold the car in March of 2000. In Atlanta, the car was sent directly to a Rolls Royce restoration specialist in Connecticut. A complete pictorial of the restoration process can be provided upon request. All major components of this car are original, including the engine. The car was restored back to factory specs. except for a custom built hidden A/C (reversible), hidden AM/FM/CD (reversible), stainless steel exhaust system. All the factory documentation. According to the 2nd owner Mr. Paul Gibson, and confirmed with RROC there were only 2 Graber drop head coupes produced in 1950-51 and B189HP is the only remaining example in existence. At the Greenwich Concours d'elegance it won "Best in Class - "Most Distinguished Rolls Royce", and went on to win "Best of Show".
