Lot #5023 - From the collection of Actor Matthew Fox, star of movies and the TV series Lost. A complete frame-off restoration, Scott Bonowski and the Hot Rods & Hobbies crew put hundreds of hours into the meticulous metal fabrication the Mercury required. The chopped Mercury body was placed on top of an Art Morrison rolling chassis with an added independent suspension with strange coilovers, power disc brakes, a 4-link rear end and anti-roll bars at both ends. Every part of the car was built with art in mind; the interior is one complete form of art, all bull hide with a custom dash and a one-off shifter with a custom hand-carved shift knob. The engine bay is its own form of art and then of course the exterior is a statement in rolling art with all the brushed nickel items throughout. It's a well thought out package and very fun to drive, yet it's a full tilt show car. The Mercury also features a GM 502 big block engine with electronic fuel injectors. This Mercury isn't just pretty, she is strong too. A custom paint job and Billet Specialties Vintage series wheels 18x8 in the front and 18x10 in the back with Toyo Proxes finish off this amazing ride. During the 2009 Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, CA, Fox's Mercury won a First in Class prize, Overall Outstanding Custom award and the Triple Gun Award of Excellence. The Mercury also won the coveted World's Most Beautiful Custom in Sacramento.
