The restoration build was just completed on this vintage buggy. It is a Manx Meyers style body over a solid VW. The motor is a fresh high performance dual carb 1910cc that has been tuned. It starts with the flick of the switch with the new 12-volt system and hi-torque mini starter. The 4-speed was rebuilt, clutch replaced and the shifter upgraded to the Jamar with reverse lockout. The new fuel system includes a rear mounted 12 gallon fuel cell with shut-off petcock. The suspension has been totally customized. The quick release steering wheel runs through a center mount rack & pinion box. New steering shafts, U joints, bearings, HD longer tie rods, gusseted front spindles, oversized 6" front beam and Fox nitrogen shocks do the trick up front. Yellow Bilstein shocks hold it together in the rear. New brakes, seats, easy to use seatbelts and a cage were installed for safety. The custom roll cage system was designed, welded and installed to not only provide for maximum passenger safety, but to allow the beam and the engine to be removed if needed. The cage runs from the front beam to the rear bumpers and bolts together through the body. This buggy handles well on the highway or off-road as is and can handle wider dirt/sand. Trax type tires and paddles to play in the mud and sand. It has plenty of power to pass traffic on the freeway and massive power to go through the mud or up the dunes. It is simply the best of both worlds.
