Lot #267 - For the 1969 model year, Chevrolet agreed to build a series of ultra high performance Camaros for drag racing. In order to qualify for the "Super Stock" classification a series of fifty examples needed to be built. Eventually, production reached sixty-nine automobiles.
The specification called for the use of Chevrolet's 427 cu in ZL-1 aluminum engine that had previously been used in Can-Am racing. This was offered as the ZL-1 performance package. The Camaro cost $2727. The Zl-1 package added $4160 to the bill. Obviously, this partly accounted for their rarity.
The example offered here is one of the rarest of the rare, in that it is one of only four cars that were delivered from the factory finished in Dover White. It also has the 4-speed manual transmission.
