SEVENTIES & EIGHTIES CARS
*Includes Buyer Commission
Lot #446 - This limited production coupe was built for mr. Fred astaire and his wife robyn under the direct supervision of family friend and chrysler chairman, mr. Lee iacocca. As a way of improving chrysler's image in 1981, mr. Iacocca went out of his way to have celebrities seen in these cars. Mr. Gregory peck and mr. Richard nixon were two
other recipients of these specially made cars.
sadly, the car we are offering was the last new car to be purchased by mr. Astaire. It has been meticulously maintained and now has a total mileage of only 22,220. At mr. Iacocca's suggestion, the original fuel injection system, which had proved to be less than satisfactory, was replaced with a carburetor set-up by edelbrock. It is mrs. Astaire's hope that the new owner will continue to cherish it, as she obviously has, as a tribute to her late husband.
